Despite being deeply hurt by Prince Harry’s memoir Spare, King Charles is reportedly still unwilling to make a firm decision about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal titles — a move that some palace insiders now see as an act of weakness.
According to a report by Radar Online, the monarch remains emotionally shaken by Harry’s portrayal of him as an “emotionally cold father.” Yet, despite the personal pain and the ongoing tensions with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Charles is said to be paralyzed by fear of public backlash.
A royal source claims the King is concerned that stripping Harry and Meghan of their Duke and Duchess of Sussex titles — originally bestowed by the late Queen Elizabeth — would make him appear petty. “The king was especially stung by Harry’s criticisms in Spare, but he’s very focused on his image and how the public might react,” the insider revealed.
Behind closed doors, however, the palace may be preparing for action. The source alleges that private meetings have already taken place to quietly discuss the possibility of title removal — a process that would require an Act of Parliament. "Insiders say the royals have quietly sanctioned the move, but are waiting to act if Harry and Meghan cross the line again."
Frustration reportedly runs deep within royal circles, with some labeling the King “cowardly” for his indecisiveness. “Charles lacks the courage to pull the trigger,” one courtier allegedly said. “He’s passed the responsibility to Prince William, who is far less sentimental and more willing to take action when the time is right.”
For now, Harry and Meghan’s royal titles remain intact — but the situation appears to be under constant review. With palace discussions ongoing and public scrutiny intensifying, the final decision may rest not with King Charles, but with the next King-in-waiting.
