Fresh controversy has erupted around Meghan Markle as a royal expert claims her behavior behind closed doors reveals signs of manipulation toward Prince Harry — a dynamic allegedly observed by none other than the late Queen Elizabeth II.
Royal biographer Phil Dampier has brought renewed attention to this issue by referencing insights from Lady Elizabeth Anson, one of Queen Elizabeth’s closest confidants. In a recent report by The Sun, Dampier revealed that Lady Anson, who spoke with the Queen daily — even during lockdown — shared deeply personal reflections on Meghan and Harry’s relationship.
According to Anson, the Queen initially welcomed Meghan into the royal family with optimism, but later voiced growing concerns. At one point, she reportedly remarked that Prince Harry appeared "a little bit too much in love… besotted and possibly being manipulated by Meghan."
“This information comes straight from someone who had the Queen’s ear — we can trust it,” said Dampier. “It confirms what many have suspected for years — that Meghan never truly intended to remain a working royal.”
Dampier further suggested that Meghan viewed her royal status as a “stepping stone” toward fame and financial independence, rather than a long-term commitment to the monarchy. He also echoed long-standing reports that Prince William had similar reservations early on, which contributed to the brothers’ growing rift.
“She saw marrying Harry as a launchpad,” Dampier added. “Unfortunately, it seems she was never fully invested in royal life, and that’s what drove a wedge between Harry and his family.”
While these claims remain unverified and heavily debated among royal watchers, they have reignited public scrutiny of the Sussexes and their highly public departure from royal duties. For now, Meghan and Harry continue to focus on their lives in California — but the tension with the royal establishment shows no signs of fading.
