As Prince Harry continues to express hopes for reconciliation with the royal family, questions remain about whether the wounds he’s left behind can truly heal.
Royal expert Hilary Fordwich, speaking to Fox News Digital, shared that trust remains the biggest barrier between Harry and the rest of the senior royals. “Time after time, he has rejected his family’s values and revealed private family matters — which is unprecedented,” Fordwich explained. “For any family, such a betrayal would be difficult to forgive, especially within an institution as sensitive and public-facing as the monarchy.”
Since the release of Harry’s explosive memoir and various interviews, Buckingham Palace has maintained a steady silence, refusing to publicly respond. However, many royal commentators suggest the impact of his revelations still lingers — particularly in how they may have tarnished the monarchy’s image.
Despite the tension, King Charles may still consider attending the upcoming Invictus Games, according to Fordwich. Yet, she notes the King remains “cautious and wary” — a reflection of his preference to keep personal matters behind closed doors. Adding to the complexity is the royal calendar, including Queen Camilla’s milestone 80th birthday, which coincides with the games.
While Harry appears eager to mend bridges, it seems the road to royal reconciliation is still fraught with uncertainty — and deeply rooted mistrust.
