Just days after King Charles took decisive action against his brother Prince Andrew, Buckingham Palace has issued a new statement — this time about Princess Anne.
Earlier this week, the palace confirmed that Prince Andrew will no longer hold his princely title and will instead be known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. The statement also revealed that Andrew has been asked to vacate his long-time residence on the grounds of Windsor Castle and will soon move into “alternative private accommodation.”
“These censures are deemed necessary, notwithstanding the fact that he continues to deny the allegations against him,” Buckingham Palace said. “Their Majesties wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain, with the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse.”
Amid this royal shake-up, the palace shifted public focus to Princess Anne, sharing a positive update about her latest engagement.
In a post shared on the royal family’s official social media channels, the palace highlighted Princess Anne’s visit to the Scottish Rugby Team in her role as Patron of the Scottish Rugby Union. The Princess Royal attended a team training session at Murrayfield and expressed her delight at being there.
“Always a joy to be at Murrayfield to watch some rugby!” Princess Anne said, adding, “Wishing @scotlandteam the best of luck for the rest of the season!”
As King Charles continues to implement changes within the royal household, Princess Anne remains one of the monarchy’s most active and respected members, continuing her busy schedule of royal duties and patronages.
