Prince William’s Salary in 2025: How Much the Prince of Wales Earns Each Year

Prince William may not clock in for a nine-to-five job or collect a regular paycheck, but that hasn’t stopped the Prince of Wales from earning millions in 2025.

According to People magazine, Prince William brought in an estimated $30 million this year. Rather than a traditional salary, his income comes from the Duchy of Cornwall, a vast estate created in 1337 by King Edward III to financially support the monarch’s heir.

William became Duke of Cornwall in 2022 when his father, King Charles III, ascended the throne. At 44, the Prince of Wales is now responsible for overseeing the estate, which generates income to fund his official duties, charitable initiatives, and family expenses.

The Duchy of Cornwall’s 2025 Integrated Annual Report, released in June, revealed a distributable surplus of £22.9 million (approximately $30.9 million) for the 2024–2025 financial year. This marks William’s second full year managing the Duchy, with funds covering the work and private costs of the Prince and Princess of Wales and their three children.

Following Queen Elizabeth II’s death, royal insiders said William was “fully immersing himself” in his new responsibilities. Since then, he has taken an increasingly hands-on approach, making frequent visits across the Duchy’s lands. In May 2024, he even spent a night in Newquay while touring a forward-thinking Duchy housing project designed to help combat homelessness.

The report also points to the Prince’s growing role within public life. Over the past year, William has expanded his list of patronages, including becoming patron of The Football Association and taking on new responsibilities with the Welsh Guards Charity and the Royal Cornwall Agricultural Association—further signaling his preparation for the throne.
