A royal bombshell is making waves after new claims emerged suggesting Meghan Markle never truly intended to remain a working member of the British royal family — and used her marriage to Prince Harry as a “stepping stone” to fame and fortune.
Royal commentator Phil Dampier, speaking on The Sun’s Royal Exclusive show, weighed in on explosive remarks first reported by journalist Sally Bedell Smith. Bedell Smith quoted a close friend of the late Queen Elizabeth II, who alleged that Meghan’s behavior near the Queen’s final days deeply angered Her Majesty.
Among the claims were reports that Meghan had been “bossy,” dismissed help from the Queen’s inner circle on the day of her wedding, and generally refused to adapt to royal life — even at the cost of upsetting the monarch.
Dampier didn’t mince words in his response:
“I think, unfortunately, that confirms what I’ve been saying or thought for the last few years — that, sadly, Meghan never really had any intention of staying in the royal family.”
He added that Meghan appeared to treat her royal title as a launchpad for personal gain, rather than a lifelong commitment to service.
“She saw marrying Harry as a stepping stone to new fame and fortune,” he said.
The royal expert also echoed past speculation that Prince William was the first to raise concerns, allegedly warning Harry early on about Meghan’s intentions — a disagreement that may have sparked the now-infamous rift between the brothers.
But Dampier’s most striking comment came at the end:
“To have this confirmed by somebody so close to the Queen is really dynamite.”
While the Sussexes have not responded to these renewed allegations, the claims, if true, could further damage their standing with both the royal family and the British public — especially given their ongoing attempts to redefine their public image post-Megxit.
With tensions still simmering and no public reconciliation in sight, these revelations only add fuel to a fire that continues to burn behind palace walls.
