Senior members of the British royal family are reportedly "absolutely furious" that Meghan Markle continues to use her royal title — the Duchess of Sussex — in public and professional settings, despite stepping back from royal duties in 2020.
According to Radar Online, palace insiders claim Meghan’s use of the Sussex title for brand-building and media appearances has sparked growing frustration behind palace walls. The tipping point, sources say, may soon come from Prince William himself.
While King Charles is said to lack the resolve to officially strip Meghan and Harry of their titles, he has reportedly given his son, Prince William, quiet permission to take action once he becomes king.
“The royals are absolutely furious that Meghan continues to flaunt the Sussex title for her and Harry’s own self-gain,” a source told the outlet. “She seems hell-bent on holding on to it — and using it whenever it suits her image.”
The controversy was reignited when Meghan referred to herself as “Sussex” during a conversation with actress Mindy Kaling on her Netflix show With Love. “It’s so funny you keep saying Meghan Markle,” she told Kaling. “You know I’m ‘Sussex’ now.”
Critics view the comment as a calculated move to maintain public association with royal prestige, despite the couple's well-documented departure from royal life and their repeated critiques of the institution.
